SANFORD — Caden Fontaine hit a walk-off RBI single in Game 1, then scored the winning run on a Zach Tremblay single in the seventh inning of Game 2 as Sanford pulled out a pair of 4-3 baseball victories Saturday against Massabesic.
Fontaine’s hit in the opener capped a three-run rally in the seventh. Dan Williams also had an RBI single and scored the winning run.
In Game 2, Fontaine had two RBI singles to help Sanford (3-4) build a 3-0 lead, but Massabesic (3-3) tied it with two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.
MARSHWOOD, NOBLE SPLIT: Camden Andrick and Christopher Morton combined on a four-hitter as Noble (4-2) earned a doubleheader split against Marshwood (4-5) with a 1-0 win at South Berwick.
Kyle Druge singled home the only run in the fourth inning.
In Game 1, Marshwood scored twice in the first inning and added five runs in the second en route to a 10-0 victory. DJ Cagnina, Henry Dimmerling and Chase Stanley each had two hits for the Hawks.
GREELY 3, BRUNSWICK 0: Zach Johnston pitched a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and one walk in his varsity debut, leading the Rangers (3-2) past the Dragons (1-6) at Cumberland.
Brooks Williams and Cooper Neleski each hit an RBI single in the fifth inning.
Brunswick pitcher Tanner Rapoza struck out four and allowed no earned runs over five innings.
SOUTH PORTLAND 2, FALMOUTH 0: Bradley McMains pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead the Red Riots (4-1) past the Yachtsmen (3-2) at South Portland.
Noah Dreifus had three hits and a run scored. Andrew Heffernan hit an RBI single.
SCARBOROUGH 11, WESTBROOK 1: Ryan Gambardella gave up two hits over four innings, and TJ Liponis, Ben Seguin and Ashton Blanchette each hit a two-run single as the Red Storm (4-0) cruised past the Blue Blazes (0-4) at Westbrook.
Thomas Donahue had three hits and three runs scored. Noah Frink chipped in with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.
CAPE ELIZABETH 4, MORSE 2: Colin Smith had two hits and scored twice as the Capers (3-3) beat the Shipbuilders (1-3) in Bath.
Hayden Webber earned the win, allowing two unearned runs in five innings while striking out seven. Curtis Sullivan finished up for the save.
Ty Knowlton and Brogan Shaw had two hits apiece for Morse. Gabe Aucoin struck out six and gave up one earned run in five innings.
TRAIP ACADEMY 6, ST. DOMINIC 1: Emerson Brown gave up three hits and one unearned run in 5 2/3 innings, and Zac Foye escaped a based-loaded jam in the sixth as the Rangers (1-5) beat the Saints (0-2) at Kittery.
Brown and Frankie Driscoll each had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.
YORK, WELLS SPLIT: York (5-3) had three multiple-run innings to win the opener, 12-2, and Wells (4-4) ended the second game with three runs in the fifth for a 4-3 win as the teams split two five-inning games in Wells.
Hayden Hendrickson, who had four RBI in Game 1, doubled home three runs in a six-run fourth. John Gennaro struck out six in four innings for the win.
Freshman Spencer Carpenter got the only hits for Wells – his first varsity hit.
Trailing 3-1 in Game 2, Wells loaded the bases in the fifth before Carpenter scored on a hit batsman. Devin Brown then drove in Zach Carpenter and Santiago Fitch-Curry with a double to center.
Gennaro robbed Hayden Barker of a home run with a catch in left field, falling over the fence.
KENNEBUNK SWEEPS BERWICK: The Rams (5-1) got solid outings from Quinn MacDonald in the opener and Dom DeFeo in the second game to beat the visiting Bulldogs twice, 4-1 and 7-0.
Quinn MacDonald tossed a three-hitter, and David York had an RBI single during Kennebunk’s four-run first inning. Ian Kula homered for Berwick.
Dom DeFeo allowed only a single to Spencer Aubin in the second game. York connected for a three-run homer in Kennebunk’s five-run fourth, and Oliver Leonard hit two singles and a double.
SACOPEE VALLEY SPLITS WITH WAYNFLETE/NYA: Anders Jonsson’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Waynflete/NYA (4-2) a 6-5 win over Sacopee Valley (4-4) and a doubleheader split, in Portland.
Luke Josephson had a double and three singles for Waynflete/NYA, which rallied from a 4-0 deficit.
Carson Black pitched a four-hitter as Sacopee won the opener, 3-1.
OCEANSIDE 4, LINCOLN ACADEMY 2: Duncan Oakes-Nelsen hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the ninth inning and Finnegan Lynch singled home two insurance runs as the Mariners (2-5) beat the Eagles (1-3) in Newcastle.
Oakes-Nelsen struck out eight in six innings.
Nick Prior hit a double and two singles for Lincoln.
WINDHAM, GORHAM SPLIT: Brady Afthim struck out 16 for Windham (1-4) in a 4-2 victory, but Landon Bickford countered with a near no-hitter in the second game as visiting Gorham (3-2) earned a split with a 6-0 win.
Bickford struck out 11, walked one and was one out away from a no-hitter before Logan Desrochers lined a single to right.
Colin McDonald had four hits for Gorham, which scored four in the first inning, including two on a double by Caleb Hendrix.
Blake Peeples broke a 2-2 tie in Game 1 with a two-run double in the third inning.
LACROSSE
GREELY 8, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 7: Chase Cornwell scored his second goal of the game in the second overtime, lifting the Rangers (3-2) over the Panthers (4-1) at Cumberland.
Elias Leggat-Barr also scored twice, and Matt Kennedy, Shawn Downing, Parker Sasseville and DJ Kenney each had one goal for Greely.
Caleb Waterman netted four goals for NYA.
GORHAM 10, PORTLAND 4: Ben Tukey scored three goals as the Rams (6-0) cruised past the Bulldogs (3-3) at Gorham.
Hunter Pelletier, Ayden Lindsay and Brady Sawyer each contributed a pair of goals.
GARDINER 9, MT. ARARAT 6: Cam Rizzo scored four goals and had two assists to lead the Tigers (2-1) over the Eagles (1-5) in Gardiner.
Chase McLaughlin and Sean Doyle each scored twice, and Connor Bell added a goal for Gardiner. Kayden Weston and Cody Dingwell each had an assist.
Mt. Ararat’s Eli Schoenburg and Xander Kirk each had two goals and an assist.
THORNTON ACADEMY 9, WINDHAM 3: Roman Flynn scored three goals, Ethan LeBlanc had two goals and two assists, and Seth Fournier made nine saves for the Golden Trojans (4-2) against the Eagles (3-3) in Saco.
