CUMBERLAND — HART of Maine was among a dozen nonprofits that received a $1,000 donation from Bangor Savings Bank in celebration of Bangor Savings’ 40th anniversary of its iconic Christmas Kittens commercial.
The bank donated $12,000 to 12 animal shelters and rescue organizations across Maine and New Hampshire. This past holiday season, the public was invited to nominate local humane societies and animal shelters; the recipients were selected from more than 2,000 online votes.
Homeless Animal Rescue Team is a shelter and adoption center for cats that provides refuge and medical attention to cats and kittens that have been surrendered, abandoned, injured or abused. The mostly volunteer organization also finds forever homes for the felines in their care.
“Our Christmas Kitten commercial is a favorite holiday tradition for those who grew up in this region, so it was heartwarming to give our communities the opportunity of determining which shelters received donations,” said Bob Montgomery-Rice, president and CEO of Bangor Savings Bank.
