John E. Rollins
FREEPORT – John E. Rollins, 90, of Fernald Road died Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1929, the son of George and Nellie Eldridge Rollins. Shortly after graduating from Brunswick High School, John married the love of his life, Ellen P. Benoit.
John worked at Bath Iron Works as a supervisor for over twenty years.
He was the companion of Mary Capen for the past 10 years after his wife Ellen’s death. John was especially loved by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John loved country music. He enjoyed playing and singing in his country band.
In addition to his wife he was also predeceased by a brother, Dean Rollins and two sisters, Muriel White and Lois Jeffrey.
Surviving is a son, Mark Rollins and his wife, Cindy of Stratton; two daughters, Debra Johnson of Bailey’s Island and Cynthia DesRosiers and her husband, Roger of Brunswick; a son-in-law, Sonny Johnson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 28 at the Riverside Cemetery in Brunswick. A reception with the family will follow immediately after the service at Durham AMVETS Hall, 1049 Royalborough Road, Durham.
