AUBURN — Sara Scrapchansky scored a pair of goals to carry the Brunswick High School field hockey team to a 3-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Edward Little on Thursday. 

The Dragons are 7-6 ahead of Tuesday’s key clash with “Battle of the Bridge” rival Mt. Ararat at Bowdoin College. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. 

Scrapchansky’s first goal came just past the mid-point of the first half as Brunswick carried a 1-0 lead into the half. 

“We came out a little flat in the first half, but the team found their energy for the second half to keep the pressure on their goal,” said Brunswick coach Carrie Sullivan. 

Kelsey Sullivan doubled the Dragon advantage early in the second half, and Scrapchansky finished the scoring with 8:29 left. 

Ellie Sullivan and Scrapchansky each picked up an assist, and Brunswick goaltender Liberty Krauss made four saves for the shutout.

Red Eddies (2-10) goaltender Emma Dionne made nine saves. 

Mt. Blue 3, Mt. Ararat 1

Madison Bard’s two goals carried the host Cougars to a key KVAC win over the Eagles at Farmington. 

Mt. Blue entered the game as the No. 2 seed in the Class A North Heal Point Standings, while Mt. Ararat (9-4) was third. 

Ella Stone chipped in a goal for Mt. Blue (11-2), with Ella Stevens and Ashley Parlin earning an assist each.

Wyley Fitzpatrick had the lone Mt. Ararat goal off an assist from Holly Temple.

Lily Schenk (seven saves) and Emma Lapreziosa split time in the Eagles’ cage, while Brooke Bolduc turned away seven shots for Mt. Blue. 

Girls Soccer

LISBON — Down 3-0 at the half, Lisbon rallied for a 4-3 Mountain Valley Conference win over Madison. 

Kiley Merritt and Destiney Deschaines each scored two goals in the second frame, giving the Greyhounds a 5-5 record. Riece St. Amant, Kyra Tancrede, Siara Martin and Deschaines had one assist apiece. 

Madison claimed a three-goal lead on the strength of first-half tallies by Emily Edgerly (two) and Abi Linkletter. 

Sarah Haggerty had 12 saves in the Lisbon net, while Bulldogs (8-4) goaltender Sasannah Curtis turned away nine shots.

“After a serious pep talk and position changes, we came out aggressive and took control, driving the ball into (Madison’s) end and scoring early,” said Lisbon coach Jenniffer Perron. “We kept control and the momentum going, dominating the entire second half.”

Lisbon returns to action Tuesday at home against Dirigo (3:30 p.m.). 

Rangeley 5, Pine Tree 0

The host Lakers received four goals from Olivia Pye en route to a Class D South win over Pine Tree Academy (3-7). 

Ellah Smith contributed a goal and two assists for Rangeley (7-3).

Breakers goaltender Emily Tardiff turned aside 11 shots. 

Yarmouth 1, Freeport 0

At Freeport, Hannah Dwyer managed to slip a shot into the net to lift the Clippers to a Western Maine Conference win over the Falcons, who fell to 9-2-1 and hosts Fryeburg Academy on Tuesday at 6 p.m. 

After a scoreless first half with each team earning five corner kicks, Yarmouth controlled the second half, picking up eight more corners and firing 14 shots on Freeport goalie Leah Rusiecki’s (13 saves) cage.
