“Somebody did a golden deed: Somebody proved a friend in need: Somebody sang a beautiful song; Somebody smiled the whole day long; Was that ‘somebody’ you?” An old United Kingdom adage
Can you believe it? It is the middle of September 2019! We are three-fourths through the year. Where does the time go?
As autumn and summer meet a special beauty fills the earth. Look at the beautiful and wonderful things of nature. Enjoy the hills and farms and the waves that wash upon our beaches and swish summer away.
All seasons shine, but autumn, especially, speaks to our senses with the richest and most stunning colors. The varied and delicate colors of the simple flowers are like a hidden treasure. They just naturally turn their faces to the sun. The most gorgeous clothing cannot compare with the intricate pedals of the flower.
Do their fragrance and beauty fill our heart with joy? The listening ear can understand the communications of God through the things of nature. Let us move on to the unselfish labor that gives depth and stability, peace and happiness to our community.
Co-working and volunteering with one another is a rich experience. With an open heart and great hope we have lives that give in love and service.
We give thanks for everything.
Let’s start with the book “The Circle” authored by Peter Diakos. It is a book about his grandparent’s journey from rural poverty-stricken Greece to America where they heard the streets were paved with gold. The book follows their journey to various cities in New England working in the textile industry.
They scrimped and saved giving up many pleasures that the United States offered. The only thing they did not scrimp on was their family immediate and extended. It is a very interesting and easy reading book. If you like history the book will take you through wars from modern ancient Greece to modern times. It is a great human true story.
I know many folks who will relate to this adventure who suffered both political and economic hardships. The name of the book is THE CIRCLE because it is meant to show how they started in rural Greece, and in the end returned to die there.
