KENNEBUNK — The Kennebunk Free Library announces its October 2019 exhibition. “A Painterly Journey,” featuring the works of Gerri Bogdan, Ellie Dunham, Elizabeth Grady, Cheryl Lunde, Pat Minichiello, Liz Roper, Marie Wilson-Lago and their instructor Dennis Rafferty.
This water media painting class has been painting together for up to eight years. It is a group made up of all different abilities and personalities. With the wide range of painting styles and abilities, everyone learns from each other as well as from the instructor. It is primarily a watercolor class (but also includes other water media of acrylics, gouache and casein) that covers a large variety of subject matter and techniques.
Demonstrations are given when students run across something they would like to learn more about. Each student works on a subject that holds a personal interest or memory for them. Along the way there are many meaningful conversations about art and what’s going on in our lives. In that respect we are a family of painters helping each other to grow and expand our lives on “a painterly journey.”
Dennis Rafferty paints in all water media. Liz Roper works in both acrylics and watercolor. Marie Wilson-Lago works in acrylics. Pat Minichiello, Cheryl Lunde, Elizabeth Grady, Ellie Dunham, and Gerri Bogdan paint primarily in watercolors. With the variation in media and styles, this show offers an exciting showcase of work.
The show runs from Oct. 1 to Oct. 30. The public is invited to view the exhibit at 112 Main St., Kennebunk during regular lobby hours when the gallery is not in use for library programs. Library hours are: Monday and Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday 12:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The public is invited to an artist’s reception on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
