PHIPPSBURG – Gary L. Worden, Jr., 56, of Phippsburg passed away at 8:16 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019 at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Mass. He left this world peacefully and surrounded by his family.

Gary was born on July 6, 1963, in Bath and grew up in Phippsburg. As a child, he loved his match box cars, CB radio, mini-bike, and sock monkeys. As a young man, he loved camping and to build things, from the wooden decorative key holders he sold and delivered to Phippsburg residents on his bike to numerous little “houses” made of salvaged materials. Gary continued creative construction as he grew up and enjoyed working on projects alongside his father, including a home they built for Gary in Winslow. He also loved his dogs, Reba McEntire, warm weather, his family, and his many, many friends. He will be remembered for his uninhibited laugh, his ability to make friends with everyone, everywhere, and his trademark farewell: “Merry Christmas.”

He is survived by his loving mother and father, Patricia and Gary Worden, Sr.; his sister, Hope Worden Kenefick; his daughter, Crys Bruschi and her husband Bill; his son Ryan Worden and his fiancée Hannah; his grandchildren, Colby and Sloane Bruschi, and Brayden McElroy; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Gary requested that we celebrate his life with food, music, and dancing, so there will be a Pot Luck Dinner at the Phippsburg Sportsmen’s Club on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 4 p.m. Those who loved Gary are welcome to attend and bring their favorite dish (as well as memories to share), if they would like.
