DURHAM — A Durham woman who crashed on Rabbit Road Wednesday night has been treated and discharged from Maine Medical Center, a hospital representative said Thursday.
Maine State Police Lt. Kyle Tilsley said Kari Begin, 43, of Durham told investigators that she fell asleep at the wheel of her Nissan SUV when it left the road, striking a utility pole and rolling over.
Durham Fire and Rescue was called to the crash in the area of 102 Rabbit Road just after 7:30 p.m. Firefighters extracted Begin from the SUV.
Begin was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to the fire department
Due to the broken pole and wires that were knocked down, the entire length of Rabbit Road was shut down to allow for repairs. The road runs between routes 9 and 136.
The road was closed for several hours. Joe Lemont, a spokesman for the fire department, said he didn’t know when the road reopened but power was restored at midnight.
Tilsley said no charges were listed in the crash report.
