AUGUSTA — Jess Cloutier scored in the second overtime to lift the Mt. Ararat High School girls’ lacrosse team to an 11-10 victory over Cony in a Class B preliminary contest on Tuesday.
The ninth-seeded Eagles improved to 6-7 and visit top-seeded Yarmouth on Friday in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. The No. 8 Rams finished 7-6.
“We were down 6-2, came back to lead 7-6, fell behind again, then tied it. It was a fun game,” said Mt. Ararat coach Chad Kirk.
In the first overtime, Cony gained the draw control, but Mt. Ararat goaltender Amanda Pickens made the big save, one of 11 in the contest.
In the second extra period, the Eagles gained control and Cloutier’s third tally finished off Cony.
Maddy Daulerio had five goals in the win, while Hannah Huston picked up two. Zoe McNally also scored.
Sierra Clark led Cony with three goals, while Kami Lambert added two.
Softball
RICHMOND — Caitlin Kendrick threw a no-hitter and added two hits, including a double, to her cause as No. 3 Richmond rolled to a 12-0 Class D South quarterfinal win over sixth-seeded Temple Academy.
The Bobcats improved to 12-4 with the five-inning win. Temple finished at 6-8.
Leah Wescott and Hannah Moholland also had two hits apiece for the Bobcats, who visit No. 2 Buckfield on Friday in the semifinals at 4 p.m. Bryanne Lancaster and Jaiden Alexander added a two-run single apiece, with Nicole Tribbet driving in a run with a single. Paige Lebel also singled.
Deleyni Carr pitched for Temple with two strikeouts and two walks.
