I found City Councilor Brian Batson’s June 4 letter (“Grateful for the experience, Portland Councilor Batson won’t seek second term”) to be very thoughtful and reflective. It seems that he found his three years on the City Council to be a most rewarding experience.

The only thing he forgot to mention was the dedicated staff of volunteers, headed by his campaign manager, Carol Schiller, who helped him, a newcomer, to defeat a long-standing city councilor.
