BATH — Dory Kulis came within a walk of a perfect game as the Morse High School softball team picked up an 11-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Brunswick on Thursday.
Kulis struck out 11 while tossing a no-hitter and led the offense with a home run, single and three RBIs. Anastasia Alaboudi also homered and drove in a pair, with Paige Faulkingham adding a pair of doubles and an RBI. Caitlyn Bradford singled twice, Halle Johnson doubled, and Abby Carpenter and Julia Goddard each singled.
Morgan Plourde pitched five innings for Brunswick, with Shea Sullivan relieving for an inning.
Morse is 10-4 and visits Lincoln Academy on Tuesday at 4 p.m, while the Dragons (3-12) host Mt. Ararat on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Richmond 11, Valley 0
The visiting Bobcats earned an East-West Conference win and an 8-3 record ahead of today’s road game at Temple Academy.
Caitlin Kendrick struck out 11, walked two and tossed a three-hit shutout for the win.
Bryannah Shea singled, tripled and drove in five runs, with Kendrick adding a single, double and two RBIs, and Bryanne Lancaster two singles. Nicole Tribbet drove in a run with a single, with Jaiden Alexander, Paige Lebel and Leah Wescott each chipping in a single.
Brielle Hill struck out four and walked eight for Valley, with Jada Ward, Emily Collins and Logan McDonald each singling.
Baseball
WISCASSET — Drew Collins’ RBI double in the second helped spark a three-run inning as Dirigo defeated Wiscasset, 4-1, in Game 1 of a doubleheader.
Chandler Redmond picked up his first career win on the mound as he went seven innings, striking out six in Dirigo’s 5-1 win in the nightcap.
Mike Packard also had a double in the first game for the Cougars (8-5).
In the second game, Wyatt Smith had an RBI double in the first, while Curtis Errington had an RBI for the Cougars.
Brian Foye had an RBI in the fifth inning for the Wolverines, who are 0-15 and visit Boothbay on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Girls lacrosse
PORTLAND — Margaret Perrotta finished with three goals, Savannah Tracy added two, and Molly Whelan scored 11 seconds into the second overtime as Freeport (6-4) came from behind and edged Waynflete (4-6), 7-6.
Emily Wagg, Emi Boedeker and Jessica Connors scored two goals apiece to help Waynflete build a 6-3 halftime lead.
Allison Greuel and Perrotta scored in the final two minutes of regulation for Freeport, which hosts Wells on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
