BRUNSWICK — Coenradt Taylor drove in a pair of runs during a key three-run second inning as the Brunswick High School baseball team defeated Messalonskee, 4-1, in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference matchup. 

The Dragons improved to 5-8 and host Lewiston today at 4 p.m. Brunswick moved into the final Class A North Heal Point playoff position with three games remaining. 

Adam Nussbaum led off the second with a single and stole second. After an Eagles (8-6) error, Taylor gave Brunswick a 2-0 lead with a single. 

Nussbaum and Taylor each had two hits in the win. 

On the mound, Brunswick’s Noah Goddard tossed a complete-game three hitter. 

Freeport 5, Poland 2

Heath Cockburn stroked a triple and scored a run as the host Falcons claimed a Western Maine Conference win over the Knights. 

Freeport improved to 10-3 and heads to 11-2 Fryeburg Academy today a 4 p.m. 

Josh Burke doubled, while Toby Holt and Anthony Panciocco each drove in a run. 

Panciocco earned the mound win, going four innings on two hits, three walks and three strikeouts. Liam Holt and Blaine Cockburn combined to throw three innings of hitless relief.

Gawain Tibbets and Colby Bell each singled and picked up an RBI for Poland (2-11).

Lisbon 12, Telstar 0

DJ Douglass and Hunter Brissette combined on a three-hit shutout as the host Greyhounds rolled to a Mountain Valley Conference victory.

Lisbon is 11-0 and visits Boothbay today at 4 p.m. The Rebels fell to 1-9.

The Greyhounds scored three runs in the first, two in the second and seven more in the fifth to put Telstar away. 

Brissette led the Lisbon  offense with a double, single, two runs scored and two RBIs. Noah Austin and Levi Levesque added a pair of hits to Lisbon’s 10-hit attack.

LISBON — Erica Hill and Mallory Fairbanks combined on a three-hitter to power Lisbon to a 4-2 MVC win over Telstar. 

Hill was 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI, while Carly Drischler picked up two hits and drove in a run. Sydney Plourde and Joanna Turner had a hit and an RBI. 

Sarah Thorman, Lisa Rothwell and Elise Fraser contributed a single each for the Rebels. 

The Greyhounds are 6-4 and host Carrabec today for a doubleheader at 4 p.m. 

Messalonskee 12, Brunswick 3

Alyssa Genness ripped three doubles as the visiting Eagles downed the Dragons in KVAC action at Brunswick.

Messalonskee (11-2) had 12 hits and scored nine runs over the final three frames to break a 3-3 deadlock. 

Ava Ardito also had three hits in the win, with Leah Smith and Brooke Martin adding two base-knocks each. 

Danielle Hall struck out seven for the mound win. 

Brunswick fell to 3-10 and hosts Lewiston today at 4 p.m. 

Hall-Dale 37, Wiscasset 1

In an MVC loss to Hall-Dale, the Wolverines spoiled the shutout when Lindsay Jones singled to plate Joanna Collins, who had walked.

Sarah Benner and Iris Ireland had five hits each for the Bulldogs.

Wiscasset 5

The Wolverines tallied four runs in the fifth in an MVC loss to the Phoenix. 

Wiscasset stands at 1-10 and visits Monmouth today at 4 p.m. 

Sydnie Thayer reached on an error in the fifth and Farrah Casey later launched a three-run double. 

Adelle Foss and Emily Castonguay each homered for Spruce Mountain.

Boys lacrosse

BATH — Morse started strong in both the halves en route to a 12-6 victory over Mt. Blue at McMann Field. 

Morse led 3-0 after a quarter, and turned a 5-3 halftime lead into a 10-4 advantage after three quarters. 

Maxon Brochu was a game-long standout for the Shipbuilders (3-7) with seven forced takeaways and 12 ground balls. Ethan Pascuzzo won 14-of-18 faceoffs to give Morse a possession edge over the Cougars. 

Morse is slated to host Maranacook/Winthrop this upcoming Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Schuyler Wetmore had seven goals as the host Rangers rolled to a WMC win over Freeport. 

Greely (7-2) also received three goals from Jackson Williams, along with two each from Andrew Lawrence and William Schumacher. 

The Falcons fell to 5-4 and visits Westbrook on Friday at 5:30 p.m. 

Lewiston 14, Mt. Ararat 10

Sam Payne tallied six goals as the host Blue Devils pulled away in the fourth quarter for a KVAC win over the Eagles, who fell to 4-6 and host Messalonskee today in Bath at 5:30 p.m. 

Logan Michaud chipped in four goals and an assist in the win. 

Riley Morin powered Mt. Ararat with five goals and a helper, while Eli Schoenberg tallied two goals. Keegan Brown, Nolan Blessington and Sean Roberts chipped in a goal each.
