BRUNSWICK — Brunswick firefighters and police responded to two separate instances of garbage trucks pulling down utility lines Friday afternoon.
Brunswick Police Cmdr. Mark Waltz said a Pine Tree Waste truck was on Hacker Road when something caused the back of the truck to lift up. It caught and snapped multiple types of utility lines — some belonging to Comcast and some to FairPoint. Waltz said police stopped the truck after it pulled down a Central Maine Power line on Windward Walk off River Road.
A short time later, a Pine Tree Waste truck with the back raised hit a CMP connection on Harpswell Road by the entrance to Watson Arena. Waltz did not know if it was the same truck or a second one.
Waltz said he expected there were at least partial road closures involved. He didn’t believe any primary electrical lines were damaged.
As of 5:30 p.m., CMP listed eight Harpswell Road customers without power on its website. Power was restored later that evening
