POLAND – Anthony Panciocco and Toby Holt combined on a two-hitter as the Freeport High School baseball rolled to a 6-1 Western Maine Conference over Poland on Monday.
The Falcons improved to 8-2 and visit Yarmouth on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Heath Cockburn and Holt led the eight-hit offensive attack with a pair of singles,
with Gabe Wagner adding an RBI single and Shea Wagner a two-run base-knock.
Brycen Bell doubled for the Knights.
Morse 5, Lincoln Academy 4
Asa Hodgdon’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh capped the Shipbuilder comeback as they defeated Lincoln Academy in KVAC action in Bath.
Morse jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Lincoln Academy (2-6) plated four runs in the third to take the lead. Trailing 4-3, Morse tied the score in the sixth and won the game with one run in the seventh.
Morse had 12 hits, all singles, as Jackson Walker paced the Shipbuilders (7-4) with four, while Hodgdon and Austin Magliozzi each had a pair of base-knocks.
Brogan Shaw earned the win on the mound, pitching a scoreless inning and fanning one. Isaak Flaming pitched the first six innings, striking out seven, while scattering seven hits for Morse.
The Shipbuilders travel to Gardiner (4 p.m.) on Wednesday.
Skowhegan 3, Brunswick 0
Kyle Kruse pitched a shutout as Skowhegan earned a KVAC win over the visiting Dragons.
Lucas Patchell had the key hit for Skowhegan, a two-run double in the first inning.
Cam Daly took the tough loss, while Henry Burnham picked up a pair of singles for Brunswick (3-7), which visits rival Mt. Ararat at Bowdoin College on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
Softball
BATH — Morse scored three runs in the bottom of the first and cruised to a 9-0 KVAC win over Lincoln Academy on Tainter Field on Monday.
Abby Carpenter led Morse with a double, triple and five runs batted in. Dory Kulis, Anastasia Alaboudi, Kali Pierce and Julia Goddard each had a pair of singles in the 12-hit attack. Halle Johnson added an RBI double, while Brook Kulis chipped in with a single and an RBI.
Dory Kulis earned the victory on the mound, striking out 12, while scattering four hits and walking one.
Morse will next play on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. contest at Gardiner.
Messalonskee 15, Mt. Ararat 2
Mt. Ararat jumped out 2-0 start in the first inning, but Messalonskee scored the next 15 runs for a KVAC high school softball victory.
Messalonskee scored three runs in the second, third and fourth innings before finishing it off with six runs in the fifth for the win.
Messalonskee’s Danielle Hall limited Mt. Ararat (1-10) to one hit, a double to deep center field by Emily Wormwood.
Megan Reed took the loss for the visitors.
Brooke Martin went 2-for-3, with a single and a home run, while Hannah Cummings went 3-for-4 with two singles and a double for Messalonskee (8-2).
Mt. Ararat hosts rival Brunswick on Friday at 4:15 p.m.
Lisbon 15, Monmouth 3
The host Greyhounds plated seven runs in the third inning to break a 3-3 tie, going on to a 15-3 Mountain Valley Conference win over the Mustangs.
Mallory Fairbanks went 4-for-5 for Lisbon with three doubles, while Ivy Morris picked up two singles and a pair of triples. Kiley Merritt, Sydney Plourde and Giana Russo chipped in three hits apiece.
Mariah Herr led Monmouth with two hits.
Lisbon returns to action on Wednesday at Mt. Abram (4 p.m.).
Skowhegan 13, Brunswick 1
Amber Merry, Jaycie Christopher and Emily Dunbar each had a pair of hits as Skowhegan rolled past visiting Brunswick in KVAC play.
Merry and Dunbar each doubled to back another strong performance from Sydney Ames, who improved to 9-0 in the circle.
Brunswick dropped to 2-8 and visits Mt. Ararat on Friday at 4:15 p.m.
Telstar 13, Wiscasset 1
Aneah Bartlett went 4-for-4 with an inside the park home run as Telstar cruised to an MVC victory over Wiscasset.
Farrah Casey had the lone Wolverine (1-7) hit.
The Rebels (4-2) registered 11 hits in the winning effort.
Wiscasset is slated to host Spruce Mountain today at 4 p.m.
Girls lacrosse
BATH — Three Gorham players recorded hat tricks as the Rams downed Morse, 17-2, at McMann Field.
Hallie Shiers, Jillian Nichols and Carson Battaglia led the win with three goals for Gorham (6-1). Shiers added a pair of assists, while Hailey Morrill, Sarah Stevens, Mackenzie Dix, Alie Peterson, Katie Kutzer, Mary DeWitt, Maddie Sweatt and Peyton Morton pitched a goal apiece.
Maddie McDonough tallied both goals for the Shipbuilders (3-4), while Emily Belanger dished out an assist. Goaltender Abby Sreden turned away 10 shots.
Morse visits Gardiner on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Biddeford 11, Brunswick 4
Paige Laverriere scored four goals and Megan Mourmouras had three as the Tigers (4-2) beat the Dragons (2-3) at Biddeford.
Kairlye McQueen added two goals for Biddeford.
Emily Cloutier scored twice for Brunswick, which hosts Oxford Hills on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
