Editor,

We, the Saco-Biddeford Literacy Team, would like to thank everyone who showed up for our two literacy forums in March. We would also like to say a special thanks Abigail Worthing for her article in the Journal Tribune covering the forums. This kind of participation by everyone is so necessary to drive positive change, and support literacy for those in our communities. These next few weeks as we develop our initiatives and create an action plan, we will be heavily guided by the feedback we received from the community during the forums. Change obviously doesn’t happen in a vacuum; the only way to close the literacy proficiency gap and promote a love for reading amongst our youngest citizens is for caring people to be involved and push for more resources and better awareness. What we’ve all just started is helping accomplish that objective, and as a community, that is something to be proud and excited for. With that, we thank you again, and we ask that you please stay involved and check in on the work we’re doing through our Facebook page (you can find our page by searching “Saco-Biddeford Community Literacy Team” on Facebook).

Best wishes on the path forward!

Saco-Biddeford Literacy Team
