KENNEBUNK — Three people, all of North Yarmouth, were taken to a Portsmouth, New Hampshire, hospital for treatment after their vehicle veered off the Maine Turnpike in Kennebunk on Thursday and struck a tree.
Maine Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said the noon time crash took place in the southbound lane when a Subaru Outback skidded on the wet road, overturned on its side and struck the tree.
Injured were the driver, Lauren Burrell, 18; her mother, Regina Burrell-Krause, 46; and Mark Cenci, 64.
McCausland said Cenci was the most seriously hurt, and is being treated for a head injury.
There were some slowdowns at the crash site, but southbound traffic kept moving, McCausland said.
