BRUNSWICK – For the second year, Brunswick has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The National Association of Music Merchants Foundation for its commitment to music education.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Brunswick answered questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities and support for the music programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

“Music education is about so much more than notes and rhythms. It is about daring to make mistakes and being proud of growth,” said Michael Scarpone, a music educator at Brunswick High School, in a news release. “It is about challenging yourself every day to achieve something more than you did the day before. It is about group collaboration and individual expression. It is about encouraging each other and striving toward a common goal. Music Education rounds out the human experience and promotes high standards, a growth mindset, and a lifelong pursuit of beauty in the world.”
