KENNEBUNK — WEX Inc. has awarded Habitat for Humanity of York County a grant of $2,500 to assist with their 30th home building project which will be located on Range E Road in Limerick.
Habitat for Humanity York County Executive Director Amy Nucci said that the support of WEX Inc. will assist Habitat for Humanity in addressing affordable housing challenges in York County and will help a family achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life.
“Habitat builds energy efficient, durable, and affordable homes in partnership with the new Habitat homebuyer and the York County community,” Nucci said. “Habitat homes are made possible through the generous donations of materials, money, and labor from community members to the local Habitat for Humanity York County located in Kennebunk.”
She said that Habitat for Humanity of York County serves low-income families who have shown a demonstrated need for improved housing, a willingness to partner by assisting in building their own homes, and the ability to pay an affordable mortgage.
“We are grateful to partner with WEX, Inc. for our fourth home in Limerick.” Nucci said. “The Limerick Build will provide an opportunity for our future homeowners to work alongside over 100 community volunteers and future neighbors to build their home and is one of the most unique, empowering, and rewarding aspects of Habitat for Humanity.”
She said there are abundant opportunities to volunteer for the Habitat organization, including at the ReStore, on the Springvale Build, assisting with its weatherization program, serving on committees or helping with special events.
Headquartered in South Portland, WEX Inc. is a provider of payment processing and information management services to the United States commercial and government vehicle fleet industry.
Nucci said that volunteers will be needed for the Limerick Build beginning in July 2019. Anyone interested in participating in the build or donating to Habitat for Humanity York County is encouraged to call the Habitat office at 985-4850 or visit www.habitatyorkcounty.org
