BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College women’s lacrosse team jumped to an early lead and never looked back in a comfortable 12-7 win over Colby on Wednesday evening at Ryan Field.

The 14th-ranked Polar Bears continued to roll, winning their fifth straight game and improving to 7-4 (4-3 NESCAC). Three of those five wins have come against ranked opponents. The 13th-ranked Mules dropped to 7-4 (3-4 NESCAC) with the loss.

Bowdoin was in control from the start, stifling the Mules offense and sprinting to a 7-1 lead.

Fiona Bundy scored three goals in the Polar Bear run to open the game and Eliza Denious’ unassisted goal gave the hosts a 7-1 advantage with 12:40 remaining in the opening half.

After goals by Emma Banks and Robyn Pirie trimmed the lead to 7-3, Denious gave Bowdoin some insurance with a free position goal with 39 seconds left in the period, giving the Polar Bears an 8-3 halftime lead.

Bowdoin extended their lead to as many as seven goals in the second half after a three-goal surge, capped by an Amanda Anderson goal.

Erin Morrissey made several clutch saves and finished with six for the game while also adding a caused turnover and five ground balls.
