BIDDEFORD — No one was injured at a fire at a manufacturing company in the Biddeford industrial park on Tuesday.

Firefighters responded to a call around 10 a.m. at Fiber Materials Inc. at 5 Morin St., according to Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Duross.

With help from the safety team at Fiber Materials Inc., firefighters were able to gain access to the area of the building where the fire was and acted swiftly to contain and extinguish it, he said.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and is not considered suspicious, Duross said.

Firefighters were on scene for about 1 1/2 hours. Firefighters from Saco, Old Orchard Beach and Goodwins Mills assisted at the scene and Arundel and Scarborough fire departments covered at the fire station, according to Duross.

Founded in 1969, Fiber Materials Inc. develops and manufactures high temperature materials and composites for use in industrial, commercial, and aerospace applications. With two locations in Biddeford, FMI produces carbon/carbon composites, soft and rigid insulation, and advanced polymer matrix composites.
