BIDDEFORD — There is good news for Taco Bell fans. It appears that the restaurant at 460 Alfred St. will be reopening.The fast food restaurant abruptly closed more than a month ago, with a sign on the door stating, “We will be back in a couple of days, better than ever!”
Unfortunately, for fans of tacos and the restaurant’s other items, that day didn’t come, and a company spokesperson confirmed in an email on Jan. 17 that the owner had closed the location.
Soon after, the Maine Department of Labor announced that it had scheduled Rapid Response sessions for workers affected by possible layoffs at Taco Bell restaurants located at Alfred Street in Biddeford, Western Avenue in Augusta, Center Street in Auburn and Washington Avenue in Portland.
The Biddeford Taco Bell restaurant has since remained vacant, however according to a recent job posting by Charter Foods, the doors could soon reopen.
Charter Foods is a Morristown, Tennessee-based franchisee operating Taco Bell, Long John Silver, KFC and A&W restaurants in 12 states.
The company is advertising for the positions of shift manager, assistant store manager, store manager and team members for Taco Bell at the 460 Alfred St. address. Interviews are taking place 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays
A Taco Bell spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
The Taco Bell restaurant at 460 Alfred St. opened in 2017 along with an adjacent Jiffy Lube automobile service shop in a brand new building. The nearly two-acre property at 460 Alfred St. previously housed two automobile repair shops that were demolished to make way for the new businesses.
