SANFORD – A 16-year old Sanford girl who went missing for a second time this week has been found safe, police say.
Ellie Thompson, had first left home on Tuesday, was found in Alfred on Thursday afternoon – and then went missing again late Thursday night.
In a social media posting issued on Friday, Sanford Police said Thompson ran away from home for a second time around midnight Thursday, about 10 hours after Maine State Police found her at a private residence in Alfred.
Shortly after 6:15 p.m. Friday, police said she had been found safe. No further information was available.
A photo supplied by her mother Friday afternoon and also posted on the Sanford Police Facebook page shows Thompson with her hair dyed brown and with bangs.
Her mother, Sandra Thompson, said the photograph had been sent to her by a friend who had seen it on Snapchat. She said she is hoping someone will recognize the room’s background and draperies in the photo and notify police.
The photo also contains the name Amber Dorin, Her mother said Ellie Thompson is apparently using the name as an alias.
