BIDDEFORD — Maine Rep’s American Chamber of Comedy will welcome new cast members as its production of “FREEZING OUR IMPROV OFF” ends a successful run Saturday in Biddeford.
A family friendly performance starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, followed by a late-night show at 9 p.m. and will feature the ensemble’s newest members, Joe Swenson, Bob LeBlanc, and Amanda Eaton. That brings the cast up to 10 with five or six performers set to rotate each week.
A new Chamber of Comedy production called “WELL THAWED OUT” will debut in Biddeford on March 2.
“Swenson, LeBlanc and Eaton each bring well over 20 years of stage experience to the group, in many disciplines of the performing arts, not just improv,” said Steve Brunette, the owner and Creative Entertainment Officer for Maine Rep and the Chamber of Comedy. “We feel so blessed to have these talented powerhouses join our already strong core of performers.”
New cast member Swenson said he’s happy to be a part of the productions.
“One of the things that stood out to me right away with the ensemble at the American Chamber of Comedy is that the talent that has been assembled is outstanding,” Swenson said. “Quite literally the best of the best are represented here.”
“At the end of each set Steve Burnette tells the audience, ‘If you liked the show, tell everyone to come see us. And if you didn’t like the show, tell everyone to come see our show anyway.’ The only way you can get away with saying that is having 100 percent confidence and belief that the product you are putting on the stage is entertaining at the highest levels,” he said. “I’m honored to be part of this ensemble of insanely talented performers.”
During Chamber of Comedy shows, scenes are made up right on the spot with help from the audience’s suggestions and because the cast lineup is always changing and no two audiences are ever alike, no two shows are ever alike.
Tickets are $15 and $18, and can be purchased online at www.MaineRepertoryTheater.com, by calling the box office at 205-6201, or visiting the theater during office hours.
Maine Rep is located at the Pepperell Mill, 40 Main St., Building 13, (enter through the doors to the left of Portland Pie) in Biddeford and now serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and popcorn.
Maine Rep also enthusiastically encourages patrons to bring non-perishable food items that they’ll donate to the Biddeford and Saco food pantries. Bring them when you come to purchase tickets or the night of the show.
Additionally, 2 percent of each ticket sold will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, and another 2 percent is donated to Volunteers of America.
