BRUNSWICK — Alexis Guptil scored a team-high 12 points, Charlotte MacMillan had 10 points, eight assists and four steals, and the Brunswick High School girls basketball team hit 11-of-13 at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 50-39 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Edward Little on Tuesday

The Dragons improved to 16-1 and visit Mt. Ararat on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Emily LaRochelle added eight points with six assists and five steals for Brunswick, which led 31-25 after three quarters.

Jade Perry scored a game-high 18 points for Edward Little (9-8). Hannah Chaput added 10.

Abby Nadeau had 12 points to lead Oak Hill to a Mountain Valley Conference victory over Lisbon.

Audrey Dillman and Sadie Waterman each had nine points for the Raiders (16-2).

The host Roadrunners received 20 points from Summer Ross in an MVC win over the Wolverines at Salem.

Zoey Waltz paced Wiscasset (0-18) with five points, with Sydnie Thayer, Kateleen Trask and Alice Yokabaskas with four each.

Franny Ramsdell and Mackenzie Foss combined to score 21 points in the second half as the Warriors (12-5) recovered from a 20-8 halftime deficit to beat the visiting Falcons (14-3) in Western Maine Conference action.

Freeport led 10-1 after a quarter and 28-26 after three.

Caroline Smith had a game-high 20 points for the Falcons, who host Gray-New Gloucester on Thursday at 7 p.m. Rachel Wall chipped in seven points.

Julia Reny and Linelys Velazquez each scored 11 points for Cony (2-15) against the Shipbuilders (0-17) in KVAC action at Augusta.

The Rams held quarter leads of 11-6, 32-12 and 51-22 en route to the win.

Alyssa Redman chipped in 10 points for Cony.

Marija Medenica paced Morse with 17 points, while Julia Goddard added seven.

Med. Valley 52

Mt. Ararat 30

The Panthers outscored the Eagles, 22-10, in the second quarter and pulled away in the second half for the win in a KVAC tilt in Topsham.

Mt. Ararat (8-9) held a 14-12 advantage after one quarter before the shots stopped falling. The Eagles shot 27-percent on the night, managing only six second-half points.

Abby Lash netted a game-high 13 points for Medomak Valley (10-7) while Sadie Cohen chipped in with eight.

The Eagles were led by Kyla Greenleaf’s 11 points, including nine points from behind the arc. Ainsley Bryant and Theresa Breed each added five points. Grace Liedman hauled in five rebounds, while sophomore Jaden Lohr had five steals.

Mt. Ararat hosts Brunswick on Thursday (5:30 p.m.) in the regular season finale.

Boys basketball

WALDOBORO — Medomak Valley rallied from a fourth-quarter seven-point deficit for a 53-50 KVAC win over Mt. Ararat.

The Eagles are 9-8 heading into Thursday’s home showdown with Brunswick (7:30 p.m.).

Trailing by two, Trevor Brown tied the game for the Panthers with 25 seconds left. Mt. Ararat turned the ball over with six seconds remaining, and Ryan Creamer went full court and knocked down a 3-pointer at the buzzer to win it for Medomak.

Brown led the Panthers with 17 points, with Gabe Allaire adding 14 and Creamer 11.

Mt. Ararat, which outscored the Panthers, 22-14, in the third quarter for a 42-34 lead, received 16 points from Jared Balser, 10 from Austin Damon and eight from Nate Taylor.

Wiscasset 46

Jack Deming tossed a game-high 20 points to lead Mt. Abram to an MVC victory over Wiscasset.

The Roadrunners (7-11) nabbed a 25-10 run in the second quarter for a 43-21 halftime lead. Adam Luce collaborated for 11 points for Mt. Abram.

Matthew Chapman led the Wolverines (1-17) with 16 points and Haiden Dunning finished with 11.

Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin picked up a 78-60 men’s basketball win over Husson in the final regular season home game inside Morrell Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears improved to 14-8, while the Eagles fell to 13-9.

Bowdoin set the tone early, getting a game-opening 3-pointer from Jack Simonds and building a 12-2 lead after 4:30 of play. The Polar Bears led by as many as 19 points in the first half, 29-10, following a Jack Bors trey with 7:41 left in the opening period.

Husson made a late push and got a buzzer-beating put-back from Justin Martin to trim the Bowdoin lead to 37-25 at halftime. Bowdoin shot 54-percent from 3-point range in the first half (6-11) and got 17 points from Simonds.

Husson made a push to get back into the contest early in the second half, rolling off a 10-2 run to close the gap to just four points, 39-35, after a D.J. Bussey 3-pointer with 16:47 remaining.

Simonds took over from there for Bowdoin, scoring eight points in a 10-0 run for the Polar Bears, extending the lead back to double digits. The lead stayed in double figures for the rest of the game as the Polar Bears led by as many as 21 points on their way to the win.

Simonds led the way for Bowdoin, totaling 31 points on 12-of-18 shooting (including 4-of-6 from 3-point range). Hugh O’Neil had 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Bussey led Husson with 17 points

Bowdoin closes its regular season with a pair of NESCAC road games this weekend, at Connecticut College on Friday (7 p.m.) and at Wesleyan on Saturday (3 p.m.)
