SACO — Thornton Academy sophomore Payton Jones hit a contested 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Golden Trojans to a 50-47 win over Deering on Tuesday night.
Dylan Griffin led the way for TA (12-4) with 17 points and Jones finished with 16 points.
Deering (9-6) was led by Ben Onek with a game-high 24 points.
Poland 47, Old Orchard Beach 40
Ryan Crockett finished with 15 points and James McCullum chipped in 11, but it wasn’t enough as the Seagulls fell to Poland on Tuesday.
Poland was led by Jay Hawke’s 20 points.
Girls Basketball
Massabesic 62, Sanford 54
Kenzy Ouellette put up 27 points to lead Massabesic to the win on Tuesday.
The Mustangs, who improved to 5-10, would also get 11 points from Skylar Renaud and Grace Frechette added eight.
Paige Cote was on fire as she finished with 37 points for Sanford (7-8).
Wells 44, Lake Region
Mackenzie Foss finished with 15 points and Franny Ramsdell added 11 to lead the Warriors to the win.
Lake Region was led by Shauna Hancock with 12 points.
