BIDDEFORD — With Christmas Day and New Year’s Day both falling on a Tuesday this year, the cities of Biddeford and Saco have altered trash collection schedules for the next two weeks.

In Biddeford, trash normally collected on Tuesday, Dec. 25 will be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 26. Those who have trash picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 26 will have their refuse collected on Thursday, Dec. 27.

Biddeford households with trash collection scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 27 will have picked up on Friday, Dec. 28. And trash normally collected on Friday, Dec. 28 will have refuse picked up on Saturday, Dec. 29.

The Recycling/Transfer Station in Biddeford closes at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22 and will not reopen until Wednesday, Dec. 26.

For New Year’s Week, Biddeford homes with trash collection on Tuesday, Jan. 1 will have trash picked up on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Trash collections scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 2 will instead have trash collected on Thursday, Jan. 3.

Refuse typically picked up on Thursday, Jan. 3 will be collected on Friday, Jan. 4 and those who normally have trash removed on Friday, Jan. 4 will have it picked up on Saturday, Jan. 5.

Trash collection in Saco will also operate on a different schedule because of Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

No trash will be picked up in Saco on Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1. Saco refuse collections will be delayed by one day throughout the holiday weeks.
