BIDDEFORD — Irene Chretien, 89, of Biddeford, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born Nov. 29, 1929 in Biddeford, a daughter of Edmond and Aurore (Lamirande) Dube and was educated in Biddeford schools.

On Sept. 22, 1956 she married Urbain A. Chretien in St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

She had worked at Sabourin Bakery in Biddeford; her last employment was with Nike shoe in Saco.

Irene was preceded in death by Urbain, her husband of 55 years on Aug. 25, 2012.

She is survived by three sons, Raymond U. Chretien and wife Jeannine of Lyman, Ronald P. Chretien and significant other Linda Boisvert of Biddeford, and Robert R. Chretien and fiancée Cathy Johnston of Raymond; a daughter Lucille Gaudette and husband Don of Arundel; four grandchildren, Rubie Gaudette, Nicholas and Nolan Chretien, and Alexis Chretien; and a sister, Cecile Bisson and husband Rene of Biddeford.

Visiting Hours will 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Most Holy Trinity Church, Saco at 10 a.m. on Friday Dec. 21, 2018. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
