WELLS — Roger Thomas O’Neil, 88 years, of Wells, Maine, died Dec. 1, 2018 at Sentry Hill in York, Maine.
Roger was born in Biddeford, Maine on Sept. 12, 1930, a son of Frederick and Isabelle (Jansen) O’Neil. Roger graduated from Biddeford High School, Class of 1948 and earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Maine at Orono. In 1960, Roger married Celine Chamberland. Together they owned and operated Home Fashions in Hudson, New Hampshire, the Cannon Sheets and Towels Store and the Sweatshirt Shop in Wells. They enjoyed 56 years together in love and friendship, raising their family in Hudson, New Hampshire and operating their businesses until Celine’s passing in 2016.
Roger was an avid sports fan and enjoyed a good game of golf. He enjoyed his vacation home in Bonita Springs, Florida and his home in Wells, Maine. He loved his family and was passionate about his business. Roger was very generous and supported numerous local charities.
In addition to his parents and wife, Celine, Roger was predeceased by his siblings, Frederick ‘Buddy’ O’Neil, Richard O’Neil, David O’Neil and Patricia Medina.
Roger is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jill O’Neil of Sanford, Maine; his sons, Michael O’Neil and his wife, Tammy, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Mark O’Neil and his wife, Cheryl, of Windham, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Mikala O’Neil, Kelsey Garza and her husband, Trey, Courtney O’Neil and Taylor O’Neil; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, Maine. A memorial service will follow with Father Fred Morse at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Ocean View Cemetery.
