SANFORD — Jon J. Brien, 54, of Sanford, died on Monday, Nov. 12, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

He was born on July 16, 1964 to Herbie and Jessie (Morgan) Munroe in Gloucester, Massachusetts where he grew up and attended local schools.

During his working life, he worked in various places such as the YMCA in Ipswich and the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, and in 2004, he moved to Maine to work as the chief engineer of maintenance at the Stage Neck Inn, in York Harbor where he continued to work until recently.  He was also employed at Hampton Inn in Kennebunk, and was the proprietor of his own business, Jon’s Air Duct and Dryer Vent Services.

He was a member of the Wolf’s Club in Sanford, and attended Curtis Lake Church.

Jon had a big personality.  He was fun loving and a big flirt.  He also liked to entertain people where ever he went with his jokes and laughter.  With many great qualities, he was generous and kind, and had “big shoulders” to put their head on for comfort when needed and was described as a “big, hairy, teddy bear.”

Jon was a family man, and loved his children, and grandchildren.  He was also a hard worker and great provider.  He will be dearly missed.
