SACO — Lionel T. Lagueux, age 87 and a longtime resident of Saco, passed away at his home on Monday, Nov. 5, 2018.
He was born on July 20, 1931 in Poland Springs, Maine, the son of Thomas and Anna (Sirois) Lagueux. He was educated in Lewiston and graduated from St. Dominic’s High School. Mr. Lagueux served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged.
He married Alice B. Barabe in St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford on May 30, 1953. They moved to Biddeford in 1957.
Mr. Lagueux worked as a meat cutter for Begin’s Grocery Store in Lewiston, Therrien’s IGA in Greene, The Farm Store, Jordan Meats in Portland, Martin’s Food in Scarborough and Saco and at Shaw’s Supermarket in Saco where he retired in 1996.
He was an avid golfer who was a member at The Dutch Elm golf course in Arundel for many years.
Mr. Lagueux was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Alice B. (Barabe) Lagueux on Sept. 2, 2018.
He is survived by his sons, David Lagueux and his wife, Nadine and Mark and Doree Lagueux; his brother, Thomas Lagueux; his sister, Irene Scott; three grandchildren; Alan and Nicholas Lagueux and Amanda Jones; three great-grandchildren, Joshua and Frank Lagueux and Anastasia Jones; as well as several nieces and nephews also survive him. He was also predeceased by his sister, Rita Caron.
There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be in Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005 is entrusted with the arrangements.
