BRUNSWICK — Hundreds of donors, parishioners and businesses have raised more than $4 million toward the completion of the new All Saints Parish Multipurpose Facility in Brunswick, the Catholic diocese announced Thursday.
“The community is overjoyed at the progress being made,” said Jim Baskerville, general chair of the steering committee overseeing the campaign. “Inside the parish and out, there is an appreciation for how important having a facility like this is for not only the use and enjoyment of the parish and school, but for other organizations as well.”
With a goal of $4.7 million, the campaign began in the summer of 2016 to raise funds for a new multipurpose facility being built by Ouellet Construction adjacent to St. John’s Catholic School and across the parking lot from St. John the Baptist Church on Pleasant Street in Brunswick. In addition to a fully-equipped kitchen, the facility will include an open space that will be used as an auditorium, cafeteria and gymnasium; locker rooms; a meeting room; a music room; and an adoration chapel.
In all, the complex covers more than 15,000 square feet and will be rented out to community organizations in addition to parish and school use.
As the campaign nears its end, the committee is still offering chances to purchase an engraved sidewalk paver, which range in cost from $100 to $350 based on size.
“The deadline to purchase a paver is Sunday, Oct. 21, so we can begin to install them in November,” said Baskerville. “It’s a chance to make a permanent mark on this campaign. People have purchased pavers to honor teachers, priests, family members, their graduating class, and deceased loved ones. Pavers have also been purchased to display business and group names.”
To order a paver or to make a general donation to the campaign, visit www.allsaintsmaine.com, send a check with memo line “Campaign” to: All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen Street, Brunswick, ME 04011, or contact Charleen Foley, the parish’s business coordinator, at (207) 725-2624 (extension 112) or charleen.foley@portlanddiocese.org.
The facility is slated to be completed by early 2019 and open for use in the spring.
