OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Carmen E. Cantara, 73, of Old Orchard Beach, passed away early Friday morning on Oct. 12, 2018, at home.
She was born in Biddeford on July 17, 1945, a daughter of Leandre and Margaret (Skillings) Morin. She graduated from Old Orchard Beach High School, Class of 1964.
Carmen was co-owner of Phil’s Auto Care with her husband for many years. She also was employed by Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford for 12 years and worked with her daughter Amy at their daycare Baby Love in Old Orchard Beach for five years.
She volunteered at Southern Maine Medical Center for several years and was a member of Breast Cancer Awareness Tea Cup Group.
Her hobbies included crocheting, cooking and doing puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed family gathering, activities and spending time with her granddaughter Averie Rae.
She was predeceased by her son Raymond Cantara in 2005.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Philip Cantara; her daughter Amy Laughlin and her husband Mark of Buxton; two grandchildren Katie and Drake;, one great-granddaughter Averie Rae; her sister Ruthie Sudds of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco with Dr. Rev. Burton S. Howe officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
