NEWCASTLE — Everett Horch torched the nets with four goals to power the Brunswick High School boys soccer team to a 6-1 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Lincoln Academy on Wednesday.

The Dragons are hot, winners of four of their last games, improving to 4-4-2. Brunswick hosts Edward Little on Friday at 6 p.m.

Horch opened the scoring off an assist from Kian Murray. The Dragons doubled the lead with another finish from Horch.

The Eagles cut the lead in half minutes later when Gus Hunt intercepted a pass and went in for the breakaway.

But, Ben Guindon answered for Brunswick by finishing a cross from Nolan Lyne.

Murray made it 4-1 at the half, rocketing home a free kick from 25-yards out.

Horch added two more unassisted tallies in the second half to complete the scoring.

Jack McDiarmid finished with six saves for Brunswick, while Tiger Cumming stopped 17 for the Eagles.

Mt. Ararat 5
Morse 1

At McMann Field in Bath, Max Spelke had a goal and two assists in the first half as the visiting Eagles improved to 9-1 in KVAC play over the Shipbuilders (3-5-3).

Jax Hollenbach gave the visitors a 1-0 lead with 17:39 remaining in the first half off an assist from Spelke, who scored the next two goals unassisted for a 3-0 Mt. Ararat edge at the half.

Travis Nadeau, from Ethan Rac, made it 4-0 Mt. Ararat before Morse found the net off a Sheamus Mann goal.

Marcus Steinman completed the scoring for the Eagles.

James Singleton and Sean Roberts combined for two saves in the Mt. Ararat cage, while Miles Bobbe turned away 10 shots for the ’Builders.

Mt. Ararat visits Lewiston on Saturday at noon, while Morse visits Maranacook on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Wisc/BB 2
Spruce Mtn. 0

Wiscasset/Boothbay improved to 5-7 with a Mountain Valley Conference win over Spruce Mountain at Jay.

Tim Chappelle and Jordan Espeut scored for the Wolverines, who visit Hall-Dale on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Caleb Gabriele made four saves in the shutout. Jacob Bryant stopped seven shots for the Phoenix (1-9).

Lisbon 2
Mtn. Valley 2

At Rumford, the Greyhounds played Mountain Valley to an MVC deadlock.

Lisbon (3-6-1) received goals from Jack Tibbetts and Cam Poisson, while Mountain Valley (4-5-1) had a goal each from Will Sorenson and Dalton Noyes, who scored the tying goal off an assist from Cam Gallant in the second half to force overtime.

Both goalkeepers saved the day on multiple occasions. Sean Moore stopped seven shots for Lisbon, while Kyle Kenney made five saves for the Falcons.

Lisbon returns to action on Friday at Oak Hill (3:30 p.m.).

Girls soccer

LISBON — Giana Russo scored four goals to power Lisbon to a 14-0 MVC win over Dirigo.

The Greyhounds improved to 7-3-1 and visit Hyde today at 3:30 p.m. The Cougars fell to 0-11.

Kiley Merritt added four goals for the ’Hounds, while Emma DiGregorio chipped in two and two helpers. Sophia DiGregorio also picked up two goals, with Caitlyn Hall putting home a goal and dished out an assist. Destiney Deschaines contributed two assists, with Merritt and Reece McAtee finishing with one helper each.

Abby Cunningham made two saves in the second half in relief of Lisbon starter Sarah Haggerty (0 saves).

Lincoln 1
Brunswick 8

The host Dragons took care of business in KVAC play with Lincoln  Academy, receiving four goals from Isabella Banks to improve to 10-0-1.

Brunswick visits Edward Little on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Charlotte MacMillan chipped in two goals for the Dragons, while Marley Groat and Alexis Guptil added a goal each. Emma Banks and Emily Larochelle picked up one assist apiece.

Madeline York scored for the Eagles.

Brunswick held a 24-11 shot advantage, with Beth Labbe turning away 10 shots in the Brunswick net. Sandra Thelander made 13 saves for Lincoln.

Field hockey

NEWCASTLE — Visiting Brunswick jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and cruised to an 8-0 KVAC win over Lincoln Academy.

Sara Scrapchansky (assisted by Shea Sullivan), Sullivan (from Kelsey Sullivan) and Lauren Jacobs tallied a goal each for a 4-8 Dragons in the opening frame.

In the second half, Gia Guernelli (Maddie Wayne), Eliza Rudalevige (Guernelli), Wayne (Scrapchansky), Rosie White (Scrapchansky) and Maggie Folsom (White) finished the scoring.

Ainsley Harrower turned away six shots for the shutout. Brunswick held a 26-6 shot advantage and a 10-2 penalty corner edge.

Brunswick visits Camden Hills today at 3:30 p.m.

Winthrop 4

Gia Francis and Katie Perkins each scored two goals to pace the Ramblers to an MVC win over the Greyhounds.

Winthrop improved to 12-0, while Lisbon — which received a five-save performance from goalie Becky Budesheim — dropped to 5-7.

The Greyhounds visit Oak Hill on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
