BATH — Get a guided glimpse at the history and folklore behind some of Maine’s iconic Midcoast lighthouses on boat tours hosted by the Maine Maritime Museum.

Passengers will see up to six lighthouses, depending on weather and wave conditions. On the list are Doubling Point Light, Hendricks Head Light, Seguin Island Light, Ram Island Light, the Cuckolds and Burnt Island lighthouse off Boothbay Harbor. People will be able to get off the boat at Burnt Light for an up-close look at the keeper’s house, tower, and other (possibly haunted) facilities.

A portion of the tour proceeds goes toward the restoration of the Burnt Light.

Guests will learn about each light, including the lives of keepers and their families, and the lore surrounding the beacons themselves. Tours will be guided by Sally Lobkowicz, the Lady in the Red Cloak from Red Cloak Haunted History Tours.

he Merrymeeting excursion vessel at 2 p.m. each Saturday through Oct. 27.

Participants will return to shore with a new and very personal understanding of the lighthouses, and the people who manned them. Stories will be told of the lives saved by their keepers while enduring personal privation and their own physical limits as they offered those who went to the sea in ships a hopeful light toward home.

Guests are welcome to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks aboard. A cash bar with light snacks will be open.

Tickets for museum members are $54. Non-members pay $68, while children ages 6-12 are $44 and children under 6 $10. The price includes museum admission for the day.
