TOPSHAM — Ethan Rac and Travis Nadeau scored a pair of goals each as the Mt. Ararat High School boys soccer team cruised to a 6-0 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Oxford Hills on Friday at Riverside Field.

The Eagles have won four straight, all shutouts, for a record of 5-1 heading into Tuesday’s home matchup with Hampden Academy (3:30 p.m.).

Rac, from Nadeau, gave Mt. Ararat a 1-0 lead with 7:19 remaining in the first half. Nadeau converted a pass from Hayden Libby into a second Eagle goal less than three minutes later, followed by a Max Varela score from Max Spelke for a 3-0 halftime lead.

Rac (assisted by Trevor York), Nadeau (Rac) and Sebastian Varela (penalty kick) completed the scoring.

Sam Morton made 13 saves in the Oxford Hills (4-3) cage.

Wiscasset 0
Monmouth 2

Hayden Fletcher broke a scoreless tie at the 25-minute mark of  the first half as the host Mustangs downed the Wolverines on Saturday.

Fletcher doubled the Monmouth lead off a Gabe Martin setup with 17 minutes remaining in regulation.

Connor Davies and Brock Bates shared the goaltending duties for the hosts with seven saves.

Caleb Gabriele made 12 saves for Wiscasset, which fell to 2-5 and hosts Lisbon today at 4 p.m.

Tim Chappelle and Matt Chapman had good performance in the midfield for the Wolverines, while Bayly Carrasco, Matt Smith and Josh Gabriele combined for a solid backfield showing.

Girls soccer

AUBURN — Cat Gould netted four goals to power Freeport to a 5-1 Western Maine Conference victory over St. Dom’s on Saturday.

Allison Greuel also scored as the Falcons improved to 4-2-2 and visits Poland on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Gould tallied three of her goals in the first half as Freeport claimed a 4-0 lead. Her fourth goal gave the Falcons a 5-0 at the 10-minute mark of the second frame.

Avery Lutrzykowski punched in a goal for the Saints on a penalty kick with 3:51 remaining.

Freeport owned a 15-6 shot advantage, with Falcon netminder Leah Rusiecki making five stops. St. Dom’s goaltender had three saves.

Lisbon 2
Spruce Mtn. 1

Kiley Merritt scored the game-winning goal in the second half to power Lisbon to a Mountain Valley Conference win at Jay on Friday.

Trailing 1-0 at the half, Greyhound Giana Russo tied the game off an assist from Carly Drischler.

Merritt’s goal was setup by Destiney Deschaines.

Calley Barker staked the Phoenix to a 1-0 halftime lead.

In goal, Lisbon’s Sarah Haggerty had nine saves, while Spruce Mountain’s Annabelle Collins had 13 stops.

Lisbon is 5-1-1 leading into Wednesday’s home matchup with Winthrop at 3:30 p.m.

Dirigo 0

The Wolverines earned their first MVC win of the season on Friday against the Cougars at Dixfield.

Alyssa Bassett scored two goals in the first half, giving the Wolverines a 2-0 halftime lead.

Gwen Webber rounded out the scoring for Wiscasset, which improved to 1-8 and visits Madison on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Goalie Katie Morse made 13 saves for the Cougars, while Lily Souza defended five to earn the win in net for Wiscasset.

Football

GRAY — Austin Baltazar ran for 205 yards and three touchdowns as Morse rolled to a 49-14 Class C South victory over Gray-New Gloucester on Friday.

Mason Savary added 95 yards on five carries with a score for the Shipbuilders, who improved to 2-2 and hosts Yarmouth in their Homecoming contest this upcoming Friday at 7 p.m.

Also for Morse, Ty Knowlton scored a touchdown, quarterback Corey Larmon tossed a 30-yard TD strike to Lukas Osterhout to open the game, and Josh terMors added a 50-yard TD run. Rakalin Buford had 65 yards on five rushes.

The offensive line of Ihsan Myers, Osterhout, Noah Doughty, Jackson Walker, Austin Magliozzi, Boden Gould and Jacob Mowry paved the way for over 400 yards of rushing.

Ty Knowlton, Darius Hargett and Gabe Aucoin were strong defensively, as well as Jackson Walker and Austin Magliozzi on the defensive ends.

Asa Hodgdon was 7-for-7 on extra points and helped to pin the Patriots (0-4) in their end of the field with four touchback kickoffs.

Lisbon 30
Mad/Carr. 8

The visiting Greyhounds improved to 4-0 with a Class D South win over Madison/Carrabec (3-1) on Friday.

Lisbon heads to undefeated and defending State Class D champion Wells this upcoming Friday at 7 p.m.

Isaiah Thompson led the win with 146 yards rushing and three touchdowns, while quarterback Lucas Francis added 57 yards on the ground. Dakota McIver had 30 yards receiving.

Francis gave the Greyhounds an 8-0 lead in the opening quarter, but the Bulldogs tied the game in the second.

Thompson went 52 yards for a score and a 16-8 halftime lead, and chipped in a pair of fourth quarter TD runs to finish off the hosts.

Mt. Ararat 24

Gorham 47

The host Rams scored the final 19 points to pull away from the Eagles on Friday.

Mt. Ararat is 1-3 heading into Friday’s road contest at Noble (6 p.m.). Gorham improved to 2-2.

Hunter Lohr broke off a 74-yard TD run for Mt. Ararat to tie the game in the first quarter. A 40-yard field goal by Austin Damon put the Eagles ahead, 10-7.

After Gorham regained the lead, Cody Holman scored on a 60-yard run for a 16-14 Mt. Ararat edge. The Rams led, 21-16 at the half.

Trailing 28-16 in the fourth quarter, Lohr found room and scampered 35 yards, with Nolan Blessington throwing to Lohr for the 2-point conversion, drawing the Eagles to 28-24.

But, Gorham ran away from there.

Field hockey

NEWCASTLE — Vanessa St. Pierre’s three goals led Morse to a 6-0 KVAC victory over Lincoln Academy on Saturday.

The Shipbuilders ended a three-game slide and improved to 5-3, while the Eagles fell to 2-6.

Lilly Thibodeau added a goal and an assist, and Paige Willis and Addie Jung also scored. Lily Clifford and Kim St. Pierre each registered an assist.

Rebecca Click made four saves for the Shipbuilders. Jenna Leeman stopped 10 shots for Lincoln Academy.

Morse hosts Lawrence today at 5:15 p.m.
