Editor,
By potentially supporting Brett Kavanaugh, Susan Collins is turning her back on the most vulnerable of Mainers.
Many people have and will continue to talk about healthcare, people far more well versed and knowledgeable than I am. I’ll let them talk about healthcare. I’ll let others discuss roe v wade and I’ll even let others discuss the insane idea Kavanaugh has that the President is above the law. People with degrees and facts can discuss those things.
Susan Collins, I just want to be able to get married. Simple, right? Something many others get to enjoy. Something I see people complaining about all the time and something I can’t wait to be able to do. It’s this simple little thing that scares me. I don’t believe Brett Kavanaugh when he tells us the date, so that an accomplished, well read Senator believes anything that leaves his lips is beyond me.
But this isn’t a place where I want to senselessly attack Susan Collins. I just want her to think about what’s at stake, with a man like that. Not just Roe v Wade, not just the sanctity of our nation as a bastion of hope.
Sometimes it’s as simple as being able to say I do.
