PORTLAND

The president of the Portland Sea Dogs is stepping down after serving with the minor league baseball team for the entirety of its quarter century of existence.

Charlie Eshbach, who announced his decision on Monday, will continue serving as a senior adviser.

Team owner Dan Burke hired Eshbach in 1992 to oversee the creation of the club, which played its first season in 1994. Sally McNamara, the team’s treasurer, said his “fingerprints are all over this franchise.”
