SACO — Jeannette T. Boston, 97, of Saco and formerly of Biddeford died Sunday at the Landing at Saco Bay.
She was born Sept. 27, 1920 in Old Orchard Beach, a daughter of Wilfrid and Mary Belle (Huot) Collard and moved to Biddeford as a child. She was educated at St. Andre’s School and High School.
On May 21, 1949 she married Richard J. Boston in St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach.
In 1942 she began her work as a bank teller at York County Savings Bank, remained there through is transition to Coastal Savings Bank, and retired in 1982.
She had been treasurer of AARP, Chapter 426 of Saco and a member of the ladies’ sodality of St. Mary’s Church. Jeannette enjoyed reading, crocheting, tatting, needlepoint, knitting and embroidery.
She was preceded in death by Richard Boston, her husband of 53 years, on June 7, 2002, and was also predeceased by three brothers Robert, Charles and Ray Collard.
Surviving are three sons, Daniel Boston and his wife Carmen of Rockville, Maryland, Dennis Boston and his wife Patricia of Biddeford, and Michael Boston and his wife Pam of Reading, Massachusetts; a daughter Judy Beauchemin and her husband Jay of Saco; and eight grandchildren.
There will be no visiting hours. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 at St. Margaret Church in Old Orchard Beach. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
