MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. — Peter J. Mazeiko, a retired flavor chemist, died on Aug. 10, 2018 after a long illness at his home with his soulmate, Myn at his bedside. He had recently celebrated his 66th birthday.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1952 in Biddeford, a son of John and Anna (Pochebit) Mazeiko.

Peter was a graduate of Thornton Academy, Class of 1970. He also studied organic chemistry at St. Michael’s College, Flavor Chemistry at Farleigh Dickinson and received his MBA from the University of New Haven. He put his education to work first at Nestle as a Food Scientist, and then at PFW in Middletown, Ottens, Takasago and Bush Boake Allen with his abilities as a flavor chemist.

A man with a heart of gold, he was kind and thoughtful; he loved his daughters and grandchildren and spending time with them. Always an animal lover, his dogs were an important part of his life. He married his longtime friend of over 40 years, Myn, and their devotion to each other was obvious right up until death. Prior to his illness, Peter was an avid runner, becoming President of Orange Runner’s Club from 1986 to 1996. He was a very active person, enjoyed sailing and golfing. He was a man who loved his work; enhancing the flavor of food with the knowledge he acquired during his many employment experiences.

Peter is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lynn Mazeiko at home; his daughters, Kristen Juzaitis and her husband, Jeff of Holy Springs, North Carolina, Natasha Williams and her husband, Erik of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania; his mother, Anna (Pochebit) Mazeiko of Huntington Commons in Kennebunk, Maine. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Allison, Nicole, Jeffrey (LJ), Bennett and Sara; his sisters, Elizabeth Abdulla and husband, George of Salem, New Hampshire, Susan Goodenough and husband, William of Exeter, New Hampshire, as well as nephew, Anthony Abdulla and wife, Samantha and grandniece, Zoe, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and co-workers.

Visiting Hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James St., Saco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Most Holy Trinity Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Saco. Entombment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
