KENNEBUNK — The Kennebunk Free Library announces its Sept. 3 to Sept. 29 exhibition, “Watercolors: Scenes of the Kennebunks,” featuring the paintings of Bob Lown.
The public is invited to view the exhibit at 112 Main St., Kennebunk, during regular library hours when the gallery is not in use for library programs.
Library hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday; 12:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
Lown has been painting since 1960. In his younger years when his time was filled with job and family, his painting had to be tucked in between other priorities. But upon his retirement in 1995, he was able to paint more regularly.
Though mostly self taught, Lown has been able to take courses from various artists while on vacation and in retirement. Some of his memorable teachers were George Shedd, Carlton Plummer, Phoebe Flory, Russell Whitten, Carl Schmaltz and Dewitt Hardy.
He is an active member of Art Guild of The Kennebunks.
Kennebunk Free Library is pleased to present these works to the public. On Sept. 7, this exhibit will be included in the “Art Trail of the Kennebunks” from 3 to 5 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.
