PORTLAND — A fight in Bayside on Wednesday night left one man with stab wounds and another facing aggravated assault charges.
The unidentified victim is a 22-year-old city resident who was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. His alleged assailant is George Merrill, 46, also of Portland, Police Lt. Robert Martin said in a press release.
Martin said a fight involving several people broke out around 9:20 p.m. at the corner of Portland and Preble streets.
Merrill remains in the Cumberland County Jail, Martin said.
The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 874-8575, Martin said.
