BRUNSWICK
The regular season in baseball, softball, and girls and boys lacrosse have been completed, with the final Heal Point Standings released by the Maine Principals’ Association.
Here is a look at where your favorite team finished, and when the playoff push will begin:
Baseball
It was a battle at the top of the Class A North standings, with Bangor, Oxford Hills and Edward Little taking turns beating up on each other.
The four-time defending State Class A champion Bangor Rams have claimed the top seed after a 15-1 regular season and will begin the push for a fifth straight title with a quarterfinal home contest with No. 8 Messalonskee (8-8).
Oxford Hills (13-3) is the No. 2 seed and will entertain seventh-seeded Skowhegan (8-8) in the quarters, while Mt. Ararat, riding an eight-game winning streak and coming in with an 11-5 record, is the No. 6 seed and will travel to Auburn Suburban Fields on Thursday (4 p.m.) to face No. 3 Edward Little.

The Red Eddies and Eagles are real familiar with each other. Last year, Mt. Ararat upset EL on its way to the regional final. This year, the Red Eddies claimed a 7-3 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over the Eagles on May 9, the last loss for Mt. Ararat during the regular season.
In the other A South quarterfinal, No. 4 Lewiston (12-4) hosts fifth-seeded Hampden Academy (11-5).
Brunswick finished 3-13 in Craig Rogers’ first season at the helm.
The Class B South postseason kicks off today, with three preliminary round contests.
No. 6 Freeport, coming in at 10-6 but struggling with three straight losses, hosts Gray-New Gloucester (9-7), the No. 11 seed. The Patriots handed the Falcons a 4-3 Western Maine Conference setback on Freeport’s field on May 25 and will look for a repeat performance.
Other prelims are No. 10 Spruce Mountain (9-7) visiting No. 7 and defending State Class B champion Yarmouth (9-7), and ninth-seeded Leavitt (10-6) traveling to No. 8 Fryeburg Academy (7-9).
Waiting in the wings in Class B South are seeds 1-3 — Wells (14-2), Cape Elizabeth (11-5) and Greely (10-6), respectively. Also, fourth-seeded York (10-6) will host No. 5 Mountain Valley (11-5) in a quarterfinal.
Morse had a tough 6-10 season and missed out on the postseason.
Lisbon, the defending regional champion in Class C South, looks to return to the state championship. The 13-3 Greyhounds are the No. 2 seed and will host the winner of a prelim between No. 10 Mt. Abram (6-10) and No. 7 Monmouth Academy (12-4) on Thursday at 4 p.m. in a quarterfinal. Lisbon defeated Mt. Abram, 11-2, and Monmouth, 7-0, during the Mountain Valley Conference regular season.
Hall-Dale, the MVC champion after downing Lisbon on Thursday, is 15-1 and the No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs will host either No. 9 Sacopee Valley (9-7) or No. 8 Winthrop (9-7).
Other quarterfinals in C South are No. 6 St. Dom’s (11-5) visiting No. 3 Maranacook (13-3), and fifth-seeded Carrabec/Madison (11-5) taking on No. 4 Traip Academy (12-4).
And, in Class D South, three-time defending state champ Searsport is again the No. 1 seed despite a 10-6 regular season. The Vikings will host No. 8 Forest Hills in a quarterfinal.
Richmond is the No. 2 seed and will face Temple Academy for a third time this season on Thursday (2:30 p.m.), with the Bobcats (14-1) winning the first two by 11-1 and 14-0 scores.
Sixth-seeded Vinalhaven/North Haven (5-7) visits No. 3 Greenville (13-3), while No. 4 Buckfield (10-6) hosts No. 5 Rangeley (9-5) in a battle of East-West Conference squads.
Wiscasset, in its return to varsity baseball, went winless this season.
Softball
Throughout the season, Skowhegan was the dominant team, going 16-0 and claiming the No. 1 seed in Class A North.
Seven teams will look to bounce the Indians from their perch as the postseason begins with quarterfinal action.
Mt. Ararat (7-9) had an up and down season while finishing seventh. A slow start (0-5) was followed by wins in six of seven games. The Eagles ended the regular season by dropping three of their final four contests, and will visit No. 2 Oxford Hills (13-3) in a quarterfinal on Thursday at 4 p.m.
In the lone meeting between the squads, the Vikings rolled to a 15-2 mercy-rule win on April 25.
Other quarterfinal games in A North are — Skowhegan hosting No. 8 Bangor (7- 9); No. 3 Lewiston (13-3) home against No. 6 Hampden Academy (7-9); and No. 5 Edward Little (9-7) at No. 4 Messalonskee (9-7).
Brunswick (0-16) failed to make the playoffs.
In Class B South, Morse put together a solid run and will head to the playoffs riding an eight-game winning streak and a 12-4 record. The Shipbuilders, seeded fourth, will host No. 5 Oak Hill (13-3) on Thursday at 4 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
The Shipbuilders of the KVAC and the Raiders of the MVC did not meet this season.
Wells (11-5), Gray-New Gloucester (11-5) and Fryeburg Academy (11-5) are the top three seeds, respectively, in B South. Each will face a prelim winner. Wells will get either No. 8 Yarmouth (9-7) or No. 9 Cape Elizabeth (8-8). Gray-New Gloucester awaits the winner of No. 7 Poland (9-7) and No. 10 Leavitt (7-9). While Fryeburg will host a quarterfinal against either No. 6 Greely (9-7) or No. 11 Spruce Mountain (9-7).
Freeport finished 2-14.
In Class C South, undefeated Madison ruled once again and is the No. 1 seed. The Bulldogs will entertain the prelim survivor between No. 8 Hall-Dale (8-8) and No. 9 Maranacook (8-8).
Sacopee Valley is 14-2 and the No. 2 seed and takes on the winner of the No. 7 Traip Academy (9-7) and No. 10 Telstar (6-10) contest.
Lisbon, after a solid 12-4 regular season, is seeded third and hosts No. 6 Carrabec (10-6) on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in a quarterfinal. In two regular-season meetings, the Greyhounds captured 7-2 and 6-5 wins over the Cobras.
The other C South quarterfinal pits No. 5 Monmouth (11-5) against MVC rival and fourth-seeded Winthrop (12-4).
Richmond will face a quarterfinal test for the first time in several years after claiming the No. 2 seed in Class D South.
The Bobcats are 14-1, the lone loss a tough 2-0 setback to Class C Sacopee Valley. Richmond hosts No. 7 Rangeley (4-9) on Thursday at 4 p.m. In two meetings this year, the Bobcats outscored the Lakers, 20-3.
Other quarterfinals include No. 3 Buckfield (12-4) hosting No. 6 Temple Academy (6-9), and No. 5 Vinalhaven/ North Haven (7-5) on the road against No. 4 Searsport (8-8).
Greenville (15-1) is the top seed in D South and will host a semifinal.
Wiscasset missed the postseason after finishing 3-13.
Boys lacrosse
This year featured three classes for lacrosse, and in Class B, it is close at the top.
Greely, Brunswick and Yarmouth took turns holding the No. 1 spot, with the Rangers (9-3), on the strength of an overtime win at Brunswick on May 11, claiming the No. 1 seed. The Dragons (9-3) are second, while the Clippers (8-4) are No. 3.
Ten teams made the postseason, including Mt. Ararat and Morse. The Eagles (6-6) are seeded seventh and will entertain No. 10 Cony (4-8). With Mt. Ararat’s field out of commission due to the construction of the new high school, the Eagles will play the Rams on Wednesday at McMann Field in Bath. Faceoff is slated for 3 p.m.
Mt. Ararat and Cony did not meet this year. The winner visits Brunswick on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Morse, seeded eighth after a 7-5 regular season, hosts No. 9 Gardiner (5-7) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The typical rivals also did not meet this year. The winner heads to Greely.
In quarterfinal action in Class B, No. 6 York (8-4) visits Yarmouth, and No. 5 Camden Hills (8-4) heads to No. 4 Messalonskee (7-5).
In Class C, Freeport went 1-11 and missed out on the postseason.
Girls lacrosse
Freeport, in its first season on its new turf field, begins postseason play with an 8-4 record, good for the No. 4 seed in Class C.
The Falcons will host No. 5 Boothbay (9-3) on Thursday at 3 p.m. This is a rematch from an April 28 contest, won by the Falcons, 15-3.
Lake Region (10-2) is the No. 1 seed in Class C and will be home against No. 8 North Yarmouth Academy (5-7) in the quarterfinals.
Other Class C quarterfinals are No. 2 St. Dom’s (9-3) hosting No. 7 Maine Girls’ Academy (5-7), and No. 6 Erskine Academy (8-4) visiting third-seeded Winslow (12-0).
In Class B, 10 teams advanced, with two prelim games involving area teams.
Tenth-seeded Morse (5-7) will visit seventh-seeded York (6-6) on Thursday at 4 p.m. It will be the first meeting of the season between the teams.
Brunswick is seeded ninth after a 5-7 campaign and will visit No. 8 Cony (7-5) on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The Dragons defeated the Rams on April 24, 10-5.
Yarmouth (10-2) is seeded No. 1 and will meet either Brunswick or Cony in the quarterfinals. Cape Elizabeth, the No. 2 seed, will host the winner of the Morse/York matchup.
In other quarterfinal action in Class B, No. 3 Greely (8-4) is home to No. 6 Waynflete (6-6), and No. 5 Biddeford (10-2) visits No. 4 Messalonskee (8-4).
Mt. Ararat went 2-10.
