TOPSHAM — Mt. Ararat Middle School eighth-grade softball squad beat Oxford Hills, 13-3 in recent action.

The Eagles improved to 5- 2 with the win with two games remaining.

Jazzy Huntsman started things off in the bottom of the first with a leadoff triple, scoring on a wild pitch, and the Eagles never looked back, scoring seven runs in the opening frame.

Offensively, the Eagles were paced by Huntsman’s three hits, three runs, and four steals. Morgan Ruff also had three knocks in the victory. Megan Reed had a pair of hits, a double and a home run, driving in two runs. Jayden Austin also ripped a home run. Lillie Singleton added a pair of RBIs and three steals.

Huntsman pitched the first inning, striking out two and giving up a bunt single. Megan Reed pitched the next five innings, striking out 12, walking two and only giving up a bunt single in the fifth inning.

Kaylee Bergeron made several nice catches at second base and Singleton was solid at first base, while Emily Bontatibus did a great job behind the plate.
