BRUNSWICK — The Lewiston Middle School eighth-grade softball team slipped past Brunswick, 7-6, on Thursday.
The Huskies got on the board with a one-run first inning and a three-pitch, three-out defensive start. The next two innings were also three-up, three-down for Brunswick’s defense. Hits by Abby Sharpe, Bri Campbell, Kelsey Sullivan, Blake Austin and Mia Klimash put the Huskies up 5-0.
The Blue Demons battled back, scoring four runs in the fourth to close to 5-4.
Morgan Foster, Austin and Sullivan added additional hits, but Lewiston pulled ahead in the fifth to seal the game.
Brunswick’s Logan Brown and Foster shared the pitching duties.
