BIDDEFORD — The Biddeford softball team rallied from a 3-run deficit with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to pick up a 7-6 win over Maine Girls’ Academy/Falmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
Olivia Whittaker led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk. Lexi Matteau followed with a single and Brook Davis hit a line shot single to right center to score Whittaker. Chantel Perreault followed with a 2-run double to left center to score Matteau and Davis to knot the game at 6.
Taylor Wildes would send the Biddeford fans home happy as she came up to the plate and smacked a walk-off single to right field to score Perreault.
Davis led Biddeford (2-2) with four hits and two RBIs and Matteau ended the game with a pair of hits. The Tigers would get a complete game from Katie Stewart.
Thornton Academy 8, Marshwood 7
Kaitlin Verrault had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Golden Trojans to the win.
Thornton Academy would also get two hits and one RBI from Hannah Collins. Amanda Bogardus had one hit and one RBI and Louisa Colucci, Jenica Botting, Sarah Casey and Madison Vachon also had hits in the win.
Colucci went the distance in the circle with 12 strikeouts and five hits allowed.
Wells 6, Sacopee Valley 1
Anya Chase led the Warriors with two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs on Wednesday afternoon.
Karissa Kenyon, who had two hits and one run scored, would pick up the win in the circle with eight strikeouts and just two hits allowed in a complete-game effort.
Wells scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a pair of 2-run doubles from Chase and Olivia Clay.
Portland 13, Sanford 8
Marli Wilson had three hits and two RBIs but it wouldn’t be enough as Sanford fell to Portland on Wednesday.
Molly Boissonneault had two hits and two RBIs, while both Sara Boissonneault and Kaitlyn Farmer had two hits in the loss.
BASEBALL
Old Orchard Beach 16, North Yarmouth Academy 6 (5 innings)
Kyle Allen had a double, single and three RBIs to power OOB to the win on Wednesday.
The Seagulls got a pair of hits and one RBI from Mark Johnston and both Matt Hurley and Matt Doody had one hit and two RBIs in the victory.
Peyton Blanchette got the start on the hill and picked up the win with one inning of work. Cody Blanchette would finish things up with three strikeouts over the final four innings.
Tuesday
OOB 13, Waynflete 3
Allen went 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead OOB to the win on Tuesday.
Johnston finished the game with two hits and two runs scored as the Seagulls cruised to the win.
BOYS TENNIS
Westbrook 4, Kennebunk/Wells 1
Declan Archer picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at first singles, but that would be the only victory for the Rams on Wednesday.
Westbrook would get singles wins from London Sjoberg and Dylan Ho.
Thornton Academy 4, Cheverus 1
Jack Xiao and Adam Lovejoy won singles matches to lead Thornton Academy on Wednesday.
TA would get a 6-0, 6-0 win from the first doubles team of Asher Thompson and Jack Cannon. The team of Adam Charbonneau and Max Stolba won their second doubles bout.
GIRLS TENNIS
Kennebunk/Wells 4, Westbrook 1
Rosemary Campanella cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win to power Kennebunk/Wells to the victory on Wednesday.
Amelia Nelson and Logan Bard also picked up singles wins for Kennebunk/Wells.
The Rams would get a doubles win from Hannah Marquis and Olivia Talevi.
Massabesic 3, Sanford 2
Anna Johnson and Kim Works won at first and second singles for Sanford, but the visiting Mustangs would win at third singles and both doubles matches on Wednesday.
Elizabeth Brown won at third singles for Massabesic, which got a 6-2, 6-1 win from Zolyia Nedzbala and Savannah Ouellette at first doubles.
The team of Rachael Raymond and Helen Philbrick beat Sanford’s Jessica Bucklin and Alyssa Littlefield, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 at second doubles.
BOYS LACROSSE
Kennebunk 8, Deering 7 (OT)
Dante DeLorenzo scored two goals, including sending home the game-winning score with under a minute remaining in overtime on Wednesday.
Massabesic 15, Bonny Eagle 7
The Mustangs would get three goals from Jacob Travis as they cruised to the win on Wednesday.
Winter Whitten, Garrett Stubbs and Brady Cormier had two goals each for Massabesic.
