Old Orchard Beach police and fire fighters responded to a call around 4:45 p.m. on Friday regarding two portable toilets on fire at Veterans Memorial Park, according to a press release from Old Orchard Beach Police.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, said police, but the toilets, owned by Blow Brothers, were completely destroyed.
Veterans Memorial Park is located at the corner of First and Heath streets.
The caller who reported the incident to police described a person who had run away from the area as a white man, about 5 feet nine inches tall and 180 pounds with a shaved head. He is believed to have been wearing a desert camouflage jacket with a grey shirt underneath, black pants and black and white shoes. The man was seen carrying a red backpack with a reflective stripe, said police.
Police say a man was seen on video surveillance footage setting the portable toilets on fire and leaving the area, according to police.
The incident is under investigation. Police are asking anyone who has information on the incident or can identify the suspect to call the Police Department at 934-4911.
