Heather Sanborn is my choice for Maine Senate District 28, including parts of Portland and Westbrook. Her range of experiences combined with her personal character make her the best candidate in the June 12 Democratic primary.
I met Heather when she was my student at the University of Maine School of Law. Her work ethic, focus, listening skills and innate intelligence consistently impressed me then. Her work since graduating is even more impressive.
Prior to attending law school and landing a job at a prestigious national law firm, Heather worked as a public high school teacher. Her experience teaching informs her advocacy for our public schools and her belief that the state must fund its fair share of public education.
After practicing law in Boston and Maine, Heather co-founded Rising Tide Brewing Co. with her husband. She is a business leader with a creative yet practical vision. She and her husband continue to grow the company and create good-paying new jobs here in Portland. Heather also fought for important changes to our laws that led to the explosion of the state’s craft brewing industry. These new businesses are now visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists each year and contribute millions to Maine’s economy.
Perhaps most importantly, Heather grew up here and has witnessed our community transform itself. She knows firsthand how change and innovation can be positive when done right. She understands that attracting new residents to Maine is critical to our economy and our future. She is committed to pursuing future-focused policies, while ensuring that no Mainers are left behind.
For all these reasons and so many more, Heather is uniquely qualified to make smart decisions about the important and complex issues we face today that will impact our state for decades to come.
