A man was shot at a home in the Penobscot County town of Garland late Thursday evening and transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, authorities said.
Police told News Center Maine that the man’s wounds were non-life threatening. The shooting took place behind a mobile home on Dexter Road. There was no information available regarding the suspect or suspects.
But William Birch, the Chief Deputy for Penobscot County, told reporters there is no threat to the public.
Birch said police received a 911 emergency phone call from a woman at the home, alerting police that someone had been shot. The call came in about 7:10 p.m.
The investigation is being led by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from Maine State Police.
Birch said detectives expect to spend the rest of the evening investigating.
