KENNEBUNK — Kennebunk’s Isabel Harms went into her senior swimming campaign with one big weight lifted off her shoulders as the standout had already signed with Siena College.

“It was great,” said Harms on already signing with the Division I swim program. “It was really relaxing. I could focus on what I wanted to do. I don’t even know how to describe it.”

With the pressure off, Harms would put together a stellar senior year as she finished second in the 500 freestyle and fourth in the 200 freestyle at the Class A state championships.

“I was pretty happy with it. It was pretty exciting and we all had a lot of fun,” said Harms, who helped Kennebunk win the South Southwesterns meet with first-place finishes in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.

The senior was focused on picking up wins and helping the Rams capture team titles, but Harms also wanted to get ready for the next level.

“I was able to focus on my training a lot which is really nice, and just getting used to what I need to do for next year,” Harms said.

The standout is hoping to find success early on at Siena while also forming a bond with her new teammates.

“I want to keep getting faster … that’s my goal. I want to be the best on my team and I want for us to be really, really close (on the team). I’m really excited,” said Harms.

The future Division I swimmer will leave Kennebunk with an impressive resume and plenty of memories.

“I’m pretty happy with what I did here in high school. I broke some records which is really nice, especially since they were really, really old, and then I got some relay records with some really great friends of mine,” said Harms.
