BOWDOINHAM

On Saturday, Bowdoinham Community School will offer up a pair of performances of “A Midsummer Night’s Dance Party,” a children’s revisioning of Shakespeare’s classic tale of magic, mischief and friendship.

More than 40 children in grades Kindergarten through fifth will bring to life mortal and mystical kings and queens, fairies and elves, the infamous Puck, the clownish Rude Mechanicals and the Four Friends at the center of it all. With its lush costumes, delightful music and colorful props designed and created by parent volunteers, this production offers a feast for the senses.

“ Our version has been cut down to a kid-friendly length, but the words are 100 percent Shakespeare,” said director Dana Legawiec in a prepared statement. “ The kids learned the story on their feet and immediately connected with the comedy and magic. Their excitement and invention bring the story to life.”

Community performances are scheduled for 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday. Parking and seating are limited, so community members wishing to attend are advised to walk or carpool, and to arrive early.

Donations will be accepted to support extracurricular

Arts programming at Bowdoinham Community School.

Bowdoinham Community School is located at 23 Cemetery Road.
